Offering wonderful views of Chichester Harbour and the South Downs beyond, the natural and unspoilt sandy beach of West Wittering has been a favourite destination for a family day out for generations. The highest water quality and excellent facilities have made it one of the premier Blue Flag beaches in the country.
Like all other visitor attractions in the area, West Wittering beach has been shut during the lockdown period since 23 March 2020.
In order to safeguard social distancing, only a limited number of cars will be allowed to park at the beach car park each day. Visitors will have to pre-pay for parking by using the parking app, JustPark. We understand that thousands of people have already downloaded the app and spaces have now been booked up until Friday 29 May.
On the West Wittering Beach Estate website, they state:
Like everyone else, we are learning as we go and as such, will be reviewing this new system constantly and will close the beach again if we feel social distancing cannot be met.
We look forward to welcoming visitors back to the beach but ask that everyone takes a responsible approach. We are all in this together and ask for your help and understanding to keep the beach safe.
With the beautiful sunny weather we have been enjoying in Bognor Regis recently, it is great news that vsitors can once again be welcomed to our area. With a wealth of visitor attractions nearby, Bognor Regis is a wonderful base for a staycation. We are hoping that people will behave responsibly ensuring that the gradual easing of the lockdown measures can continue.
